What It Is

Your wall. Made
completely unclimbable.

A wall-top electric fence is installed directly onto your existing compound wall, adding 8–10 energised wire strands that deliver a powerful, safe shock to anyone attempting to climb over. No new construction required.

Unlike a free-standing fence which requires its own posts driven into the ground from scratch, a wall-top system uses your existing wall as its base. This makes it significantly cheaper — you only pay for the electric fence components and installation, not new posts or groundworks.

Most Nairobi residential properties, businesses, and schools can have a wall-top fence installed in a single day, and begin enjoying 24/7 security from that evening.

🧱

Mounted on your perimeter wall. No excavation or new posts required.
8–10 live strands
High-tensile wire carrying 5,000–8,000V pulses every 1.2 seconds.
🔋
Runs during outages
Battery backup keeps your fence live through power cuts, all night.
📱
Alerts your phone
GSM notification when fence is tampered with or a fault occurs.
Why Choose Wall-Top

The most cost-effective
security upgrade in Kenya

A wall-top electric fence delivers the same deterrent effect as building your wall higher, hiring more guards, or installing expensive surveillance — at a fraction of the cost.

How It Works

Four components.
One complete system.

Every wall-top electric fence installation includes these four components, sized correctly for your property and configured for your security requirements.

Energizer
The brain of your system. Converts mains or solar power into 5,000–8,000V pulses sent down the wire every 1.2 seconds. We install Nemtek, JVA, Stafix, or Druid energizers depending on your perimeter size and security requirements.
🔌
Fence Wires
8–10 strands of galvanised high-tensile wire mounted on UV-resistant insulators on your wall. Alternating live and return (earth) wires ensure a circuit is completed when touched. Invisible from a distance.
🔋
Battery Backup
A sealed 12V backup battery keeps your fence powered through KPLC outages. Automatically switches to battery when mains power cuts out — your fence remains live all night, every night, regardless of load shedding.
📡
GSM Alarm
When someone touches or cuts your fence, the energizer triggers an instant SMS and call to your phone. Upgrade to full siren integration so your guard and neighbours are also alerted. Works anywhere in Kenya with Safaricom / Airtel.
Optional Add-On
☀️ Solar Backup
100% grid independence. Ideal for frequent outage areas.
Optional Add-On
🚨 Siren Alarm
Loud audible alarm triggers on tamper. Wakes guard and neighbours.
Optional Add-On
📷 CCTV Integration
Add HD cameras at entry points for full perimeter visibility.
Optional Add-On
🗡️ Razor Wire Combo
Pair physical razor wire with electric wires for maximum deterrence.

FAQ

Every question
answered honestly

How much does a wall-top electric fence cost in Kenya? +

Wall-top electric fences cost between KSh 800 and KSh 1,200 per metre installed, depending on the number of wire strands, energizer brand, and additional features like GSM alarms or solar backup. For a standard 50×100ft residential plot (~92m perimeter), the total installed cost is typically KSh 105,000 – 125,000. Larger perimeters benefit from a lower per-metre rate. Use our estimator above or WhatsApp us for a free quote.

Is an electric fence legal in Kenya? +

Yes, electric fences are entirely legal in Kenya when properly installed. The law requires: visible warning signs at regular intervals (we install these on every project), proper earthing / grounding of the energizer (our standard practice), and the use of safety-certified energizers (all brands we install are IEC-certified). We ensure every installation is fully compliant with Kenyan regulations and international safety standards.

Will the fence work during a KPLC power cut? +

Yes. Every system we install includes battery backup — typically a 12V sealed battery providing 4–8 hours of continuous operation during a power cut. For areas with frequent or extended outages, we recommend upgrading to our Advanced package which includes a solar panel keeping the battery continuously charged — giving you 100% grid-independent operation.

Is the electric shock dangerous — to my family or workers? +

No. All energizers we supply are certified to IEC 60335-2-76 international safety standards. The pulse is high-voltage (5,000–8,000V) but extremely low energy — it lasts less than 1/10,000 of a second and delivers a sharp, memorable shock that is startling but medically safe for healthy adults and children. We provide full safety training at handover. Warning signs are installed around the entire perimeter as required by law.

Which energizer brand is best — Nemtek, JVA, or Stafix? +

All three are excellent South African brands trusted across Africa. For most residential homes, we recommend the Nemtek Wizord 2 or Druid 15 — robust, reliable, and with excellent alarm integration. JVA is ideal if you want app-based phone monitoring. Stafix offers great value for medium-sized properties. The Druid 15 is our most popular urban residential choice for its reliability and easy alarm integration. We recommend based on your specific perimeter size and security requirements.

How long does installation take? +

Most standard residential properties (50×100 plots) are fully installed in one working day. Larger commercial properties or those requiring extensive cable routing may take two days. Our teams arrive in the morning, work efficiently, and aim to have your fence live and tested before they leave. We never leave a job incomplete.

How often does the fence need maintenance? +

Wall-top electric fences require minimal maintenance. As the owner, you should check the energizer voltage reading monthly (we show you how) to confirm the system is live. Vegetation touching the wires will lower voltage — trim any creepers or bushes touching the fence. We recommend a professional service visit every 6 months to clean terminals, check all connections, test battery health, and verify the full system. Our optional service contract covers this.

Can you integrate the fence with an existing alarm or CCTV system? +

Yes. Most energizers we install support direct alarm integration via a relay output — meaning when the fence is triggered, it can send a signal to your existing Paradox, DSC, or Texecom alarm panel. We also offer GSM notification built into the energizer (calls and texts your phone directly) and can add siren integration so your guard is alerted immediately. CCTV integration is also available as an add-on.
